Beacon of Hope - Shining a Light on Domestic Violence and its Intersections Training Series
My Sisters' Place is excited to offer the Beacon of Hope - Shining a Light on Domestic Violence and its Intersections training series for service providers and community members.
The first training, Shining a Light on DV and Substance Use, will take place on Monday, October 7th from 1-2:30pm. Together, we will explore the history of how the War on Drugs targets Black and Brown communities (or those marginalized by systemic racism) and how ongoing drug policies impact survivors of domestic violence. We will discuss how to identify the dynamics of domestic violence as it relates to substance use and substance use disorder. Finally, we will share the importance of using Harm Reduction and Unconditional Positive Regard frameworks in providing trauma informed care for survivors.
